Observing that pets are necessary for human beings to lead a healthy life as they can fulfil the emotional deficit created by broken relationships, a magistrate’s court directed a businessman to pay interim monthly maintenance of Rs 50,000 to his 55-year-old estranged wife. Metropolitan magistrate Komalsing Rajput refuted the husband’s argument that maintenance for the dogs cannot be considered.
